Wait a minute....You're telling me that..
It's already time to stock back up on school supplies, pack up all my random "crap", and head back to school?
Really???
(sigh...)
Oh well... it feels like yesterday that I was just getting home to start the summer off right. But here I am FINALLY typing away the dreading feeling of going back to school.
*Remember when I said I would blog more this summer....yeah I kinda lied. HA*
But...I have an
Well, most of the first half of my summer was spent looking for a job. Not just any job..but a job that was flexible with my schedule for school/football, a job that was decent pay, and a job that I ENJOYED. The places I called didn't work out with my schedule, so I was stuck waiting for something that finally came along. I ended up working for YMCA Child Care in Hutch with my cousin Kayla and I loved it. I just helped out by watching and hanging out with kids. It was a blast, and hopefully I can go back and be on full time next summer. Aside from working, I did the usual summer activities. Met up with friends every once in a while, went swimming, caught up on tv shows and Netflix, went on some road trips, some concerts and stuff like that which I'll go into detail later. The one thing I didn't do this summer which is HUGE is go to the movies. I usually always go to the movies during the summer and for some odd reason...I just never did. X-Men, Divergent (which I just got today on Blu-Ray.) Planet of the Apes..alot of these movies I wanted to see. Just never got to it. Kind of a shame if you ask me.
Speaking of roadtrips, I did travel to my what I'd call my second childhood home to the land of the Purple and Gold Indians, Medicine Lodge, KS. My best friend's family is from there and growing up, we went numerous times to see hang out with the family and we still do to this day. Even though it's in the middle of nowhere and in the country with nothing to do, it's the people we hang out with and the times we have that make up for it.
The past couple of trips to ML, we've visited a so called abandoned and haunted mental hospital by the name of Auchenba in Hardtner, KS. We've been inside twice with some of our friends just to check it out and explore it, and it's pretty darn creepy. The second time though, I found myself wanting to investigate more of the rooms and the stuff inside. Although there are threats of being caught by police for trespassing or finding wild animals or even homeless people (yeah right in a city of 172 people lol), we're still game to adventure inside when we can.

The next big event of my summer would definitely have to be going to the 2014 Vans Warped Tour. I have a very open set of ears when it comes to music. I have so many different genres and artists that I enjoy for certain reasons and for that I'm very glad. One band in particular has taken over my headphones and car stereo for the summer and will continue to do so for a very long time and into the future. That band is Echosmith. Put together of four siblings from California ranging from the ages 21-15, this band immediately caught my attention after they performed on the after show of one of my tv shows on MTV, Teen Wolf. I usually just skip after shows like these because they usually waste time and are just pointless, but for some odd reason (that I am eternally grateful for), I kept watching and before I knew it, they played their #1 hit 'Cool Kids' and I had their albums downloaded and on my phone faster than you could name the siblings and their order. (Jamie, Noah Sydney, Graham) I thought to myself, this band is legit. It's the type of music I love to listen too, that I believe doesn't get enough attention and recognition for it's pure awesomeness musically and lyrically. After basically two straight months of researching information about the band, listening to their music nonstop, and pretty much stalking them (ha), I found out that they were coming to Bonner Springs, KS on the 2014 Warped Tour. I had heard of Warped before, waaaaay back when Paramore had been on the band list and I had wanted to see them so bad (Back in like freshman year), but that time passed and I missed my chance, and I was NOT going to miss out again. Look at Paramore now and all the success that they have acquired. Echosmith is the next big thing and as one of MTV's Artists To Watch along with being one of the many new and upcoming bands to check out, they mean business. All said and done, I went to Warped, and despite the heat, the drunk people, the weed in the air, and the girls with the crazy colored hair that had signs saying 'Hug Me!' (ummm no.) I saw Echosmith play live, got their autographs, took pictures with them, and even had personal conversations with them, stuff that normally doesn't happen with a band whose song is blazing the Top 100 charts and rising fast in the country. They are so genuinely kind and caring about each and everyone one of their fans and followers, and you just don't see alot of that. It was an awesome experience and I am forever thankful to Teen Wolf's Wolf Watch for broadcasting the brilliance that the Sierota Siblings have brought to the musical world. I will definitely be seeing them in the future (as well as my other favorite band Foster The People) and until then, I will continue to keep their album Talking Dreams on repeat on iTunes, Spotify and any and every other music program I can. Seriously. Check out Echosmith. You won't regret it.

Well there ya have it...my summer in a blog post. Even though it may not have seemed to exciting, I thought it was alright. Hopefully, I can keep a somewhat regular attempt at posting every once and awhile (not that anyone reads these) but still.. it's the thought that counts right? Now back to school and back to what I love...Football. Here's to another great season and one where we once again, prove everybody wrong. The junkyard dogs are at it again.
Well, Summer 2K14 has come and gone, until 2015..
